I believe so, technology can make you even a better at your skill. You can use it as an effective tool. For example, I use video to help my kids see themselve practice and how they perform in games.

The world is changing a bit too fast if you ask me.I'm just getting into the new things that come out ,like Blu-Ray ,I do not own one cause of the cost it is ,We all can't keep up with technology because the next year something new comes up too.I can only afford it after a few years when the prices go down.

If you want to do things manually,i'm sure it is possible to achieve but it will take a little bit longer to do. I find that is the problems with todays society,people want things done yesterday ,so fast and in a hurry to get anything done and to go about it as soon as possibe.

Is it posible for teachers to teach without technology yes I feel it is first because I feel there is too much emphases on technology in schools, I beleive children need that one on one from teacher meaning(lack of communications)And second I know I will be a good teacher and I am not really good at technology. I feel that all teachers can justly serve their children if they have there hearts and souls into their work.
I feel that it is so hard to keep up with the kids and the use of the technolgy of today...texting is the style of today and if you go out to a hockey game or any place public, you will see someone texting...I have tried to learn texting but I guess my phone is old school..:)..I believe that a good teacher needs the techonolgy of today in order to become a successful teacher although you cannot leave out the one on one communication with the student and the teacher...Most teacher are willing to except the new technology because its the new age of finding resources which help them become better teachers.
well..It could be possible to be a good teacher without using technology, but it would be a little harder because now a days children are more complex than we were back in the day, they have a lot more technology than we did, and they know how to use a lot more of it, so I would think that in order to get their attention than we would have to be at their level, which would be by using technology and the web.
I would also think that if a business wanted to grow than it would have to utilize the web because so many people have access to the web, that that would be the best way to get your business out there.

If a student does not have access to technology it makes it harder. I can just imagine for a teacher it could be the same way.This is the 21st ceentury, an age were children are being brought up in the digital world. A teacher can still be a good teacher without technology. With technology teaching is made more easy and fun, and it makes learning fun for the students. Technology makes everything more easy, and enjoyable. I think since it is available, we should "embrace" technology, and enoy what it can do for us.
It is definatly possilbe to be a good businessperson without the use of technology. Businesses have been around or trading posts for couple of centuries in North America. As in modern times, some of these businesses have failed and some have succeeded with or without the use of technology. A modern restaurant my use a commerical stove or oven for the purpose of cooking food quickly and effectively, as opposed to cooking over a fire and having to start it the fire without a lighter or matches. However, technology may aid any business to be much more effective and to utilize its' resources.
Any business does not have to utilize the web. However, any business which utilizes the web may become more effective, educated, up-to-date, and maintain a competitive edge over other business that do not utilize the web.
The realities of todays consumer's demand do not have to accept or embrace technology in the business environment. With the consumer's having more technology based products, businesses that do not embrace technology may not gain new markets or may lose any existing markets that a business may already have. To survive in business, a business must adapt an overcome any obstacles to stay profitable.
I so agree with what you said about the world changing so rapidly. I am one of the people who are stuck in the "storm", unable to navigate my way through! Yes, I do believe that it is possible to be a good teacher or businessperson without using technology because technology wasn't always used to teach and the teachers back then did a good job, so technology, even though it is a very useful tool, is not necessary. Yes I believe that a teacher can serve his/her students in the best way possible without using technology because of what I said in my above statement. On the other hand I find business' in the 21st century have to utilize the web because business' are more competitive and without technology business' would fail!! Yes, I do find it a bit complicated at times to navigate through the storm because the kids are always looking for the next best thing thats available in new technology. So, maybe slowing down a bit in the advanced tech would be good for certain countries, however, would be great for rich countries. Yes, I do believe it's possible to be a good teacher or businessperson without the use of technology, for example the third world countries continue to educate students without the use of technology and I find they do have more respect for their education and have far more in depth of understanding of their learning from education, which I think is an excellent teaching a child can get. So, yes,they can serve their students the best way possible, better than a classroom setting with technology because kids get easily distracted with machinery, comps, etc.

They could only utilize the web if they are ready to serve the clientel, if all of a sudden they are swamped with orders, they need to be able to serve the public if they are selling items on their web page.
However if the business provides a service it may have to look at their possibilities of boundaries and what they can do and can't do.

This can only be a good thing we cannot change our environment we can only adapt ourselves to our surroundings if technology is around us we must embrace it but not rely completely and solely on technology. Because without power we have to rely on experience and our own smarts to get through it.

These questions would have to depend on the business it self. An internet café has no choice to conform and embrace, but a dry cleaner or an old Italian diner that has had the same equipment, old cash and same menu but a full house of regulars does not need to conform if business is good, and booming, “why fix what (aint) broke?”
So in that case no I do not feel they need to have it in the 21st century, unless their suppliers, and people they do business with conformed and you had no choice to place orders on their web site and no longer took phone orders, then we might have a problem.
I think that yes we can do our business and teaching without technology, but in reality not as likely. There is so much technology because it just isn't a computer that you turn on, there is a greater horizon of technology being used, for 1 example, teachers would not have all those papers if photocopiers were not in place, which I'm sure helps make their jobs easier. There are numerous examples of the little technology that is used everyday but most people think of it as just turning the computer on or internet when accually it helps make a business or teaching or whatever someone uses it for alot more simpler and time consuming.
It would be very difficult to run a business or be a teacher today without the use of technology. Because it is so prevalent in our everyday lives, as students, business people, workers, teachers – at least 99.9% of people rely on the use of email, network services, internet and yes, still fax machines when you don’t have access to this, you could missing out on important information, documentation, critical deadlines and that could mean serious ramifications on your business. The educational system has ever increasing demands with reduced budgets and human resources but yet have to provide the best education, the use of technology will enable teachers and educators to effectively meet these demands.
I believe that because of the demand for the newest, fastest and most reliable efficient technologies, the school system must keep up, the teachers must keep up and our children are running along with it and just absorbing it like sponges. It’s hard to tell who is keeping up with whom, but as long as we continue so will technology.
As human beings we are constantly evolving and as we evolve so does our environment, since after all, it has to meet our needs and wants! So we might as well accept it and embrace technology for all that it is worth, and yeah, have fun while doing it too!
I beleive that schools and businesses can be run without all the technology now...yes it will be harder and more work for everyone to do. They used to do it teach and work without all these machines. How many computers took peoples jobs. In the future I beleive that every household will have their own personal robot to do all the simple things. If you are a skilled and educated person (without all this technology) I beleive you can do anything with the knowledge you hold.
Being a good teacher or businessperson is not determined by technology alone. Take sports for instance, where improvement of equipment has certainly made the players task easier and possibly safer however it is still driven by the unique skills and talents of the human performer. One can be supplied with the best of equipment but if you haven’t the skill or talent it will be of little or no use to the individual user. Likewise in business if one lacks the knowledge to use modern technology. Technology is simply the tool as it will hopefully always need the human skills and talents of the user. I believe that it is becoming more important to acquire the necessary skills to use technology but to excel at any level one needs to be driven by passion and desire to be the best with their individual talents. I believe as a teacher or business person of the 21st century well most definitely need to rely on the ever growing trends of technology and all that the web has to offer. How society embraces this phenomenon is another story. The business world might have an easier time where as schools and teachers may not take it so well. In the case of Chris Avenir a University student in Toronto found himself in a bit of a mess. The news is reporting that the Mr. Avenir has violated the institutions academic rules by using the social network we know as Facebook to develop a study group and now faces expulsion. Questions surrounding the use of the internet for academic purposes are becoming a hot issue with University's. Some support the use of the internet so long as the source is of reliability, demonstrates objectivity and different opinions. Some say its simply a new form of high tech cheating. I think this is going to be a very interesting story to follow and I believe it will be the start of new debates and change how we learn in the future where technology is concerned. I believe that we can go without the technology in the business world and in our education system. Many years ago, teachers went by lesson plans and literature to teach our children. Businesses utilized their hands to write down phone calls and take messages. Twenty years ago, teachers and business people didn’t know what a computer was or that the internet existed and for that many of the students did well in school. People became successful.
Students today have the great privilege to utilize the internet for projects and research papers. Business people get to do presentations to show their talents and knowledge.

There was a time when technology never even played a role in the classroom and the teacher was still able to teach what was needed to be taught. But I think a teacher who uses technology is one that will serve his/her students in the best of ways. The fact is that there is so much technology out there that is very useful and a great resource for many teachers that I don’t see why they shouldn’t be using it in today’s classrooms. I think the reality is we as a society have been embracing technology in our environments for awhile now and we will continue to do so.
I believe in some cases you could be a good teacher without technology. For example do children in kindergarten need to have a wall full of computers? or would the space be better used for free play furniture? I believe that young children need to learn and deal with their environment through play. On the other hand children in the older grades need to start using technology as they get older. Yes, I strongly believe that you can be a good teacher without using technology, we are doing it now and have been so many years. Yes technology is here but we aren't fully equiped with it yet. As for me we have nothing to do with technology at the daycare center. I'm really good with children and teach them what they need to know before they start heading off to school.

The use of technolgy in our schools is so advanced now a days that students are learning at fast pace. I think that to better understand this high tech world they have to learn using technology. As for some teachers, they are learning the best way possible to teach students in an atmosphere where they have the technology such as computers or video cameras for teching tools in their classrooms. I believe that the person attempting to teach or sell without using technology would have good intentions, but can they be the best they can be, no. With the advances happening in this day and age, you could take the same technology course two times over and never learn the same thing twice. With regards to the business world, in order to properly stay afloat in the world today you need to stay competitive, and you can't do that if you are not tech savvy. With regards to the education world, I believe that it is a teacher's duty to efficiently equip the children that you are teaching with every tool that they could possibly need to arm themselves against such a fearce world. Technology is a great tool but a-lot of kids still need the student - teacher interaction. Alot of great teachers dont use technology because they dont know how to use it or just prefer not to.
You can be a good teacher without all of these new technologies. Teachers never had them before and we turned out alright. There would be alot more hands on activities for the children. I'm not knocking the new technologies they are nice to have and I must admit that they are fun to use and they are a helpful tool for anyone.
Keeping Up With The Kids...
It’s interesting to think about the role of technology in our lives and the impact it has on us whether we are active participants or not. Recently, an old and dear friend of my family who is well into her 70’s received a new computer as a gift from her brother who had come to comfort her after the loss of her beloved husband. For many years she too was a teacher, is an artist and loves to write. All these years she did not have a computer because she didn’t know what to do with it. Needless to say, there were many occasions that I tried to encourage her to consider the benefits, that it really was not that difficult to learn, and never too late. Over the years we have kept in contact with her by snail mail and phone calls. When we spoke last she was very eager to share the news about her new gift, and her new e-mail address. In many ways it was comforting for us to know that this small gift of technology would no doubt play a more significant role in her life now, by keeping her connected to friends and loved ones in a world not so small and isolated. With a strong mind and a love for creativity I am sure she will do well.
Today’s shifting realities most certainly do have an impact on students, business and consumers. Is it possible to be a good teacher or businessperson without using technology? My first thought is no. But really, it is one of those questions that beg more consideration. Life in general is a teacher to all of us. Some of the most important teachings in my life have come from that good teacher and many others oblivious to the world of technology. It is in those teachings that we discover and learn so much about ourselves and our place in this world. Nothing and no one can take the place of these teachers. I believe there is a real need for balance in this rapidly changing information landscape. As First Nations people in a technological world we should not forget or underestimate the significance of what our Ancestors have taught us about living in the natural world.
Outside of this discussion and in the context of institutionalized education and business policy, I agree that a good teacher or businessperson in the 21st century must be in synch with today’s technological realities. In the pursuit of this intelligence however, I personally don’t see where teachers, administrators and business owners are being adequately prepared to meet the demands, challenges and the call for opportunities that students and consumers have put on the agenda. Without a rapid and major shift in vision and resourcing we may well find ourselves in our little corner of the world left behind with our heads buried deep in those shifty sands, not able to navigate though the storm. My thoughts for the day.
It is possible to be a good teacher without using technology, as long you have a solid foundation, you know what you are doing or teaching. But with technology, the lesson plan might run smoother. All of the technology in the world will not help you if you do not know what you are talking about, and if you try and "Fake it," the students will see right through you and lose interest
Good teacher without technology? I don't think so. I don't think technology will necessarily make you a good teacher. Imagination and creativity will make you a good teacher, advancing with technology will make you a better teacher.
Yes I think it is possible to still do business and be a good teacher without technology. Look at all of us adults who grew up without it-we all seem ok right. On the other hand, technology does enhance these two diciplines.I still am open to change and the use of technology in the teaching and business world as it enhances the quality of teaching by providing a wonderful research tool.
Yes it would be hard for us to keep up with the kids. If we didn't have anything else to do in our lives then we will be able to keep up with them. I work with our after school media club. Its called eel ground mutli-media club. These students are present and former students of Eel Ground. I am gonna update a video or two of the kids doing there work. Hope you enjoy some of their work. They are members of a site called lyndia.com for California. There is almost every application you can think of used by Mac computers. These kids that are working for the club have been using computers from kindergarten to grade 8. They use all this technology up until grade eight. When they get to high school they are not using computers as much as they did when they were here. That is why we started this after school program, so these kids don't loose there computer skills that they were educated in. It a Mac world here in Eel Ground.
Is is possible to believe that technology is more of a convinience, and that we are spoiled by whether we admit it or not. Technology has made things alot easier reading , writing to typing. However, some of us have grown to technology, and it seems our children today were born with technology, they have more of the knowledge and experience. At this time i don't think we can keep up with our kids and technology, because things are changing everyday, we are only human , we can only take and endure things one at a time
I believe that a true teacher can engage and hold the interest of the student without the use of technology. You can still find those wonderful teachers that have held to their belief that the best way to teach is to stimulate the thought process and draw the student in. But who are we kidding, with the power of the internet, why bother. Using a computer has made it so much simpler and faster to get the information needed for the teacher and the student. It has cut prep time and study time immensely. With technology moving at such a swift pace, teachers have no other choice but embrace it and move along with the flow or be left behind. We have become a cut and paste world, fast times call for it.
I definately believe it is possible to be a good teacher without technology...it wasn't here or should I say very advanced one time...and I'm sure we had some exceptional teachers. Yes technology does help at teacher to some point.. but being a good teacher does not have to do with technology, I think it should be incorporated in todays teachings, because of the ever so advanced tech world...but i don't think it has everything to do with with being a good teacher.

I feel that being an effective teacher has nothing to do with using technology, however technology is the new paper. This is the way to communicate and create and we as teachers and business people should keep up. I don't feel that we can serve our students/employees without technology because how are they to stay competitive and keep up with the world around them. I don't believe we can provide the most absolute best education to our kids if we do not succumb to technology and its ever-changing ways! To communicate effectively to our kids we have to learn computers because they are at the forefront of education. Take smartboards for example, they are the new age chalkboards in the classroom. This is an effective tool in the interaction of your kids in a classroom. It is my belief, that as technology changes we have to as well. We have to accomodate an ever-changing techno world.

KEEPING UP WITH THE KIDS:
Teachers accept and are aware of the prevalence and importance of the use of computer technology, but its use does not make the teacher. Yes, it is possible to be a good teacher without using technology. World history is filled with enduring names and their words of wise teachers who have shaped science, religion, business etc.
Today computer technology and global inter-net are available to broaden the horizons of education and its use is becoming essential in school, but in the hands of a good teacher the potential is even greater. A good teacher can intuit on a personal level, aptitudes, interest and ability, that technology cannot.
The new technology can heighten the power of a teacher to reach and motivate students. Virtual reality, global communication and collaboration, access to information open new frontiers for teaching and learning. Computer technology and the inter-net are tools that teachers can use to give students wings, but the teacher is still essential in the classroom to guide and protect, to remind students of responsibility, accountability and the consequences of their actions.
I think that a teacher can be a good teacher without using tehnology but if the teachers embrace the technology of the future and use it in the classroom they can better prepare their students for the future. This is because the way the future looks it will be filled with technology. So students should start getting more close to technology so its easier to use for them when they get older.
I think that it is possible to be a good businessperson without using the technology of today. Many people do it the present business. Although, it will be more time consuming and the business can suffer a bit. Its not necessary for all businesses to utilize the web to conduct their day to day tasks. The web can be beneficial in a sense of ad’s. The web doesn’t require you to be a good businessperson. Technology creates short cuts for business people to make their job a lot easier and that’s time efficient rather than time consuming.
Business and teaching can survive without technology, it is after all technology. We taught and sold merchandise before web based was brought to our attention and if for some odd reason, someone pulled the plug on us, we would survive with efficiency.
The days with Plastecine, Leggos', the jewelry we buy without really checking it out on the web. We still go to the jewelers to see the real deal. There is something about holding in your hands and seeing it for yourself and taking the long examination and apprehension to putting it back to the jewelers delightful hands...I feel the need to browse now on some sites...how ironic.
